THOR SELLS FOR A COOL 12 MILLION BUCKS

Worldwide Auctioneers, the auction house based in Auburn, Indiana, and who recently organized the Riyadh Auction and Salon for the government of Saudi Arabia, called the sale of THOR24—the highly-customized Peterbilt tractor truck outfitted with twin V12 Detroit Diesels engines and topped with 12 blowers—a world record, and we can believe it!

Built over several years in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, THOR24 is the dream of land developer and part-time stuntman Mike Harrah, who says he has more than $7 Million dollars into his wild creation. The engines, connected nose-to-nose by a splined shaft, give the truck a total of 1704 cubic inches and generates 3,4 00 horsepower. There are eight BDS blowers (and eight nitrous bottles too!) up top fitted to a custom airbox that sits atop the dual Detroit Diesel engines, each of which comes from the factory with twin blowers, so a total of 12 blowers are used.

The truck, 44-feet long and weighing in at 32,000 pounds, was too large to get to the desert location, so based on info printed in the auction catalog and a prepared video of the truck, bidding ended with when the auctioneer’s hammer dropped on a telephone bidder standing at an even $12 Million dollars (for a $13,200,000 total with fee premium’s added).
